At the MIST Lab, we explore the frontiers of ultrasound imaging and therapeutic technologies to develop next-generation solutions for medical diagnostics and treatment. Led by Prof. Sua Bae, we bring together expertise in signal and image processing, AI-powered system design, and focused ultrasound (FUS) to tackle critical healthcare challenges—particularly in brain disease treatment and neuromodulation.

Our current focus is the development of a portable, at-home FUS system that enables non-invasive and repeatable brain therapies, including blood-brain barrier opening (BBBO) and cerebrospinal fluid flow enhancement. This groundbreaking project integrates real-time monitoring, wearable ultrasound technology, and personalized treatment and guidance, aiming to transform hospital-based procedures into safe, effective at-home treatment solutions.

We are committed to advancing clinically translatable technologies and providing students with hands-on research experience in areas such as signal processing, algorithm optimization, and system-level design.
